Hello hello hello. I know it’s the end of November and I’m finally posting all of my Inktober drawings together in a blog post. I shared these drawings on instagram as it is the perfect platform to share these daily drawings. Like this post being posted late, I missed two days of Inktober due to life whether work or personally related. Drawing consistently was difficult and there were times I couldn’t think of anything, the execution wasn’t going as well as I wanted, or I just didn’t want to do it, but I pushed through because it was a fun challenge. I was vending in Brooklyn at the Fort Hamilton Comic Con and got to compete with two comic book artists in a live speed drawing competition. That was fun and difficult as we had to draw 4 people in 8 minutes and have a creative concept.
My main tools were sharpies, copic markers, and krink markers. I never really used copic markers and I can understand now why so many people really love them.
Scroll down to check out all the good, bad, and in between drawings that I worked on for Inktober.
The text says, “I didn’t mean to fall in love, but I did. And you didn’t mean to hurt me, but you did.”
I liked this Gorilla drawing and decided to created vectorize this and add some details in Adobe Illustrator.
Everyone was high on the Luke Cage series and then after New York Comic Con released his partner’s Netflix trailer I decided why not create a fun Iron Fist drawing.
The text says, “Maybe one day we’ll finally learn to love ourselves and stop apologizing for the things that make us who we are.”
This was my 8 minute drawing in the live battle at the Fort Hamilton Comic Con. I liked my Mortal Kombat/Street Fighter video game concept.
This drawing I was having a crazy day, so I went with an expressive drawing and wrote down this phrase.
This is supposed to be George Carlin
I like how this has a comic book vibe. In case you can’t read my handwriting the text says, “Isn’t it ironic? We ignore the ones who adore us, adore the ones who ignore us, love the ones who hurt us, and hurt the ones that love us.”
Let ’em know I’m going down to Mexico to watch God and the devil arm wrestle for my soul”-That was line from rapper Apathy ‘s song “handshakes with snakes” that was the concept for my #inktober illustration. I had fun with this one that I think I might bring this to the computer to add colors and some effects. The concept of what is essentially the back and forth of good vs bad was something that I felt like I dealt with this past year. Maybe. Anyway, all supernatural beings have no pupils and the caricature of what was originally supposed to be me has pupils. I got the patrón shaped bottle in the foreground, because tequila. I like the drunk angel.
“Don’t fashion me into a maiden that needs saving from a dragon. I am the dragon and I will eat you whole”
Halloween- Michael Myers wearing a Captain Kirk shirt, because the mask is of William Shatner aka Captain Kirk.
BONUS- I drew this a couple days before Inktober.
